What a tough year 2020 was for Year 12 students. Not only were they getting ready for their final year of school, COVID-19 hit, there were lockdowns and they had home-based learning, which for many students, was for their first time.

With the HSC results released on Friday 18 December, Claudia Chan Shaw from the 89.7 Eastside FM radio station was keen to find out how 2020 had been for HSC visual arts students and how they had coped with finishing their major works.

Ms Tarrant, our Creative Arts Coordinator, has over 30 years of teaching HSC visual arts students and she is also an experienced visual arts HSC marker. On Friday 11 December, she was interviewed by Claudia live on radio.

Ms Tarrant’s heart-warming discussion brings to life the HSC major work that was on display in the break-out room of the Benedict Learning Centre, here at Mater Maria Catholic College. Robyn spoke about each piece so visually that is was made very clear, the connection between what students learn in the classroom and the world in which they live in.
