Our College’s Track & Field Carnival acts as a qualifier for further representative opportunities at Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay and All Schools levels. The opportunity exists for talented athletes to progress to State and National levels.

The Mater Maria annual Athletics Carnival is held in Term 2 at the Narrabeen Academy on a sport synthetic track. Track events include 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m and relay events. While field events include shot put, discus, javelin, high jump and long jump.

A team of approximately eighty students represents Mater Maria at the Broken Bay Championships at Homebush Stadium in Term 3. All track (including hurdles) and field events are entered.

Based on results at the Broken Bay Championships, a team is selected to represent Broken Bay at the NSW CCC (Combined Catholic Colleges) Championships. Selection for NSW All Schools is based on results at NSW CCC (Combined Catholic Colleges). An NSW team is then selected for the National level of competition.
