Benedict Learning Centre

The Benedict Learning Centre provides
  • Access to information via a wide range of resources and in a variety of media including print and digital in a technology-rich setting for all curriculum requirements.
  • Relevant resources and innovative technologies that can be used within the Benedict Learning Centre, in classrooms and accessed from home which greatly enhance our students’ learning opportunities.
  • Excellent facilities for our students, as a vibrant hub for learning, with spaces for private study, group work and class work.
  • Onsite IT support for our student’s devices.
  • Dedicated senior area for HSC preparation with extensive reference materials and an up-to-date collection of Preliminary and HSC study guides.
  • Collaboration between our Learning Resource Teacher and teaching staff ensures that the Benedict Learning Centre caters for a broad curriculum focus, aligned with the requirement of the Australian Curriculum.

Opportunities to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities:

  • The Premier’s Reading Challenge in Years 7 to 10
  • Undertake a leadership role by being involved in a peer mentoring role for junior students
  • The Duke of Edinburgh International Award by volunteering or learning a new skill supported by the Benedict Learning Centre staff
  • Write a Book in a Day
  • Writing Workshops 
  • Mater Chess Tournament.

The Benedict Learning Centre also places great importance in its role to strengthen students’ literacy skills, by promoting and encouraging students’ interest in recreational reading and developing an appreciation of quality literature through:

  • A wide range of literature that provides students with many and varied reading experiences, all aimed at instilling a lifelong love of reading and literature
  • Information literacy and literature programs such as Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) program years 7 to 10.

Our focus is on developing student’s Digital Literacy skills in the areas of information literacy, information technology and critical thinking in a dynamic environment, which is adaptive and embraces change. The Benedict Learning Centre is designed, equipped and staffed to help students learn in a way that suits them best.

Monday to Thursdays 8:00am to 4:30pm
Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm

Open recess for senior students only
Open lunchtime for all students
