Mater Maria > News > Holly Lombardo Wins 2024 Zonta Young Woman in Public Affairs Award

In a recent College assembly, we celebrated the remarkable achievements of our students, particularly their dedication to service and leadership within our College and the wider community.

We are thrilled to announce that Year 12 student, Holly Lombardo, has been awarded the prestigious Young Woman in Public Affairs award by the local Northern Beaches Zonta club. This award was presented by Zonta Representatives, Margaret White, Z Club Coordinator, and Robyn Milat, Chair of Young Women in Public Affairs at our latest assembly.

This award recognises Holly’s exceptional leadership and commitment to public service and social causes. Her application will now proceed to the state level, and we are confident in her potential to inspire positive change.

We also commend Year 12 students Pacha Saidi, Taylah Preston and Mackenzie Wolfe, whose applications for the same award were highly commended. Their contributions include organising birthing kits for overseas aid, crafting breast cushions for women in recovery, leading a book drive for a women’s refuge and mentoring younger students. These students exemplify leadership, compassion and service.

The Young Woman in Public Affairs award, presented by Zonta International, highlights the potential of young women aged 16-19 to lead and effect positive change in their communities and beyond. Zonta International’s global network of professional women is dedicated to empowering women and advancing gender equality.

We celebrate the achievements of Holly, Pacha, Taylah and Mackenzie, and are inspired by their passion, purpose, and commitment to serving others.
